Women in Photography Exhibit Opens
Lake Travis Community Library 1938 Lohmans Crossing, Lakeway, TX, United StatesThe Lakeway Arts District presents “Women in Photography”, a special photo exhibition celebrating Women’s History Month from March 1st - March 30th at the Lake Travis Community Library. This creative exhibit includes dramatic photos both by women photographers and portraits of women taken by local photographers. The exhibit was inspired by women's history, health, beauty, motherhood and equality. We invite you to join us at the Artists Reception on March 9th from 1:30-3pm. Light refreshments will be served and it is open to the public. Feel free to enjoy this exhibit anytime in March during regular library business hours. Also please visit the sister exhibit "Women in Art 2024" at the Hive Gallery in the Hill Country Galleria from February 3rd to March 22nd to see the stunning artworks of 68 local women artists.

Lakeway City Hall Art Gallery 1102 Lohmans Crossing Rd, Lakeway, TX, United StatesJoin us for the 2024 Lakeway Photo Festival Opening Reception at the Lakeway City Hall Art Gallery honoring the winning and honorable mention photographers. All are welcome in the Art Gallery for light refreshments from 5:30 - 7pm before the City Council meeting. The winning 2024 Lakeway Photo Festival photographs will be on display in Lakeway City Hall Art Gallery until December 20th during regular business hours.

A Photographic Exploration of Literary Worlds "Pages to Pixels" invites photographers to translate the imaginative worlds of their favorite literary works into compelling visual compositions. Capture the essence of a character, symbolize a profound theme, or share your personal connection to a story – all interpretations are welcome. Themes and Interpretations (Examples): Portraits of Fictional Characters: Bring literary figures to life through evocative portraits. Symbolic Representations: Use photography to convey the underlying themes and messages of your chosen books. Our second annual members-only exhibition, "Around the World," is a celebration of global perspective. We are looking for captivating images that transport the viewer - whether through the geometric precision of an architectural icon, the quiet dignity of a cultural monument, or a candid moment on a distant street corner. From the exotic to the intimate, help us turn the Lake Travis Community Library into a window to the world. Naturescapes 2026 Photography Contest
Online EventNaturescapes Photography Contest is celebrating its 22nd year! The unique beauty of the natural areas within San Marcos inspired the first Naturescapes Photography Contest. The contest includes photographs taken in greenspaces and natural areas throughout Hays, Blanco, Comal, Guadalupe, Caldwell, and Travis Counties. Contest sponsors are the Hill Country Photography Club and the Hays County Master Naturalist program. Goals of the contest and exhibit include increasing public awareness of the importance of protecting our natural world and giving photographers at all levels of experience a chance to capture, share, and receive recognition for beautiful and inspiring images. Suggested subjects include natural scenery, wildlife, plants, and people and pets in the natural environment. Accepting entries through June 22, 2026. Prizes $150 for Best in Show $100 for Best Natural Waterscape, sponsored by the Hays County Master Naturalists. The photo must feature a natural water feature such as a creek, river, pond or lake. $75 for Best Youth $75 each for 4 Awards of Excellence $25 each for 4 Awards of Merit $100 for the Best San Marcos Natural Area, sponsored by the San Marcos Greenbelt Alliance. The photo must be taken within one of San Marcos’ six natural areas: Purgatory Creek Natural Area, Spring Lake Natural Area, Ringtail Ridge Natural Area, Schulle Canyon Natural Area, Blanco Shoals Natural Area, and Sessom Creek Park. To be eligible for this prize, a photo must first be selected for the Naturescapes exhibition. $50 each for the Best Adult and the Best Youth Native Wildflower, sponsored by The Hill Country Chapter of the Native Plant Society of Texas.
